The muscles of the pelvis form its floor. They support the pelvic organs, especially during increases in intra-abdominal pressure, and also aid in urinary and faecal continence. There are many muscles that form the pelvic floor, including puborectalis, pubococcygeus, iliococcygeus and coccygeus.
